a christmas story

At this point, even my Christmas shopping is finished so godspeed to those of you still on the road today. A word to the wise: Avoid Tysons.

We're hours out, folks. Hours out from my most favorite day which always seems to go by a little more quickly every year. When my brother & I were younger we'd spend hours talking about what we'd leave for Santa & how we'd sneak attack the presents under the tree in the morning. There was only one way to get downstairs but that didn't stop us from constructing a brightly colored map year after year.

As we get older, Christmas day is celebrated weeks early with family members that live far away, for multiple days with friends that share the same affinity for Elf & twinkle lights, & up until New Years with the ones that have been traveling. Christmas day is something so different than it used to be. I so enjoy holding on to little pieces that are the same but I wouldn't give up these new celebrations & traditions for the world.

This past weekend, a few of my favorites & I put on our best holiday threads & ventured out for a night of friendship, fun, & charity. Lacey, Alison, & I hosted the 4th Annual District Gala's Best Dressed portion of the evening & had an absolute blast.

As an active advocate for children, I was thrilled to support an event where proceeds from the evening benefited Horton's Kids - an organization dedicated to educate & empower the children of Washington, DC’s Ward 8 by providing comprehensive, direct services which improve the quality of their daily lives & nurture their desire & ability to succeed. Thanks to the new friends we made, the rocking dance moves we learned, & the cause we were all there to support, this is sure to be an annual event for us.

[monday must-haves] gift guide edition

I must confess that the Canon DSLR I've been coveting for the past few years was the real [must-have] of the season & since I may or may not have already purchased that techy gem for a Cyber Monday steal it means I'm left to share my fashion favorites with you. These ten gorgeous gifts would look just perfect under my Christmas tree :)

Number one item I'm currently lusting after? That gorgeous Ona camera bag. Because, of course, my new Canon needs a home!
